OP9 Explorations & Inquiry Open Classroom
Date: 1 April 2026
Time: 0930 - 1130
Venue: Teaching Lab, Boon Lay Garden Primary School
Teacher: Mr Mohammad Aashiq Anshad (Boon Lay Garden Primary School)
This session is conducted with a Higher Readiness class of P4 students, focusing on the STELLAR Unit The World Around Us, and engaging with various text-types as per the Exploration and Inquiry Lesson titled What is a Science Text. The specifics of the lesson design will be modified slightly to best fit the profile and the interests of the class. Critically, students will be challenged to think deeply about the importance of considering purpose, audience and context as they develop their use of the English Language.

Mr Mohammad Aashiq Anshad is an English and Social Studies teacher at BLGPS who has been exploring inquiry-based learning, the question formulation technique, and motivating self-directed learning. He has been trained in teaching HALs since entering the service in 2023, now bringing that learning to life as he plans and executes the school’s in-house HAL Programme for English Language, adopting a reading-circles inspired, module-based approach, spanning speaking, reading and writing. In addition, he often supplements lesson resources with AI-based tools, and bespoke HTML apps to motivate student learning.
