LJ3 Making Connections through "A Walk in the Fort Canning Park"

Date: 31 March 2026

Time: 1400 - 1700

Venue: Fort Canning Park

Facilitator: NParks officer

With more parks being connected and built around HDB towns, complete with facilities to appreciate local biodiversity and experience the positive effects of nature immersion on well-being, this Learning Journey is designed to encourage schools to utilise park walks as meaningful connections to Primary Science topics such as Diversity of Living Things, Plant Parts and Function, Circulatory and Respiratory Systems, and Ecosystems. There is also potential for exploring interdisciplinary learning opportunities with Social Studies.

After the guided walk, participants will explore how to geo-plot their own learning journeys and discuss how they might use SLS lessons for pre-trip learning and archive post-trip demonstration of learning.

Programme

2 - 2.30pm: Briefing on NParks programmes and resources + park ettiquette

2:30 - 3pm: tips on conducting outdoor learning

3 - 4pm: Guided Walk with volunteer guides

4 - 5pm: hands-on activity for teachers to geo-plot their own learning journey with talking moments.
